Admissions & Affordability

A boutique high school where every applicant is met in person — and every family is helped to find a way in. Here's how to begin.

A boutique high school

You'll be known here — from the very first visit.

Westchester Hebrew High School is the only Modern Orthodox, co-educational high school in Westchester County: a vibrant, diverse learning community serving students of all religious backgrounds from across the tri-state area. Our size is the strategy — low student-teacher ratios and a stated culture of kindness mean every student is seen, supported, and challenged.

Every applicant is met

A personal meeting with the Head of School and Director of Admissions is part of every application — not a privilege for a few.

All backgrounds welcome

Students of every Jewish background join us — including a two-year Mechina on-ramp for those new to day-school or Hebrew learning.

A real human follows up

Inquire once, briefly, and a person — not an autoresponder — reaches out to walk your family through what comes next.

What you're joining

More than an application — a community

A WHHS classroom

Academics that move with you

Three tracks in every Judaic and General Studies course, with the freedom to move up a level the moment you're ready — in any subject, any time of year. Small classes mean a teacher always knows where you are and where you're headed.

A culture of kindness

Chesed and middot aren't electives here — they're woven through the day. From Yachad deliveries to Israel advocacy to the Better Together inclusion program, students learn that being known also means looking after one another.

4

Take the JSAT entrance exam

The JSAT Level 8 exam, administered through COJDS.

5

Visit & interview

Between December and February, spend time on campus: observe classes, meet students and faculty, and share lunch with us.

כבוד

Every applicant has a personal meeting with the Head of School and the Director of Admissions. We want to know your child before we ever read a score.

Visit & inquire

The best way to understand WHHS is to stand in it

Come for a visit

Schedule a personal visit and your prospective student will sit in on classes, meet current students and teachers, and get an honest feel for a day here. Families also meet with our Head of School and Director of Admissions — a conversation, not an interrogation.

Start an inquiry

Not ready to visit yet? Send a short inquiry and a member of our admissions team will reach out personally to answer your questions and help you plan a next step.

  • Observe real classes across Judaic and General Studies
  • Meet students, faculty, and the Head of School
  • Tour our campus on the Long Island Sound
  • Talk through tuition, aid, and busing for your family

Transfer students

Transfer applications are considered on a rolling basis throughout the year — reach out any time and we'll guide you through it.

Affordability

Tuition & affordability

A WHHS education is an investment we work hard to make accessible — with need-based assistance, flexible payment plans, and a real conversation for every family. See the full picture, including how to apply for aid, on our tuition page.

Getting here

Door-to-door busing from six regions

Distance shouldn't decide a school. WHHS runs busing across the tri-state area, with a Metro-North connection to the Mamaroneck station for points beyond.

Frequently asked questions

Who can apply to WHHS?
We are a Modern Orthodox, co-educational high school welcoming students of all religious backgrounds from across the tri-state area.
How large are classes?
Classes average 10–12 students. The small size is intentional — it's how teachers come to know each student personally.
What entrance exam do you require?
Applicants take the JSAT Level 8 exam, administered through COJDS, as part of the application.
Is tuition assistance available?
Yes. Need-based assistance is offered through a WHHS Tuition Assistance Application and a FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment. It's confidential and rolling, with a January 5 priority deadline. Contact the Business Office at 914.698.0806 ext. 301.
What if my child has little day-school or Hebrew background?
Our two-year Mechina Program is a dedicated on-ramp for students with little or no prior day-school or Hebrew experience, helping them join the community with confidence.
How do you support students who learn differently?
The Learning Center builds academic support directly into the schedule — there is no pull-out program and no missed classes. District support is available for students with an IEP.
Do you provide transportation?
Yes — door-to-door busing serves six regions across the tri-state area, plus a Metro-North connection to the Mamaroneck station.
Can students transfer in?
Absolutely. Transfer applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year.
